In the last decade, Augwind is developing a revolutionary mid-long duration energy storage: The AirBattery.
The solution aiming to play a key role in the energy transition: from damage fossil fuels to clean renewable energy sources. The unique storage system is using only water and air, with minimal footprint and combining CAES (compressed air energy storage) and pumped hydro principles.
The AirBattery is using Augwind’s AirX chambers: a cost-effective underground storage component of compressed air at high pressures and large volume. It is providing ground-breaking distributed storage, modular and scalable, with minimal degradation.
In addition to the hardware innovation, the process capabilities converting high-efficiency electrical energy, based on the fully isothermal process that developed by the company, high-skilled control system, and abilities to utilizing the mechanical components to its best.

AirBattery ROADMAP
The AirBattery solution is based on compressed air (CAES) and pumped hydro principles. It utilizes a combination of:
1. Innovative underground CAES chambers (Augwind technology- AirX). 2. Process technology that converts the energy stored in compressed air back into electricity, throught closed loop water system.
The charging process use surplus electricity from the grid or any other sources to operates conventional water pumps, to compress air inside AirX chambers, and deliver the compressed air into additional storage AirX reservoir.
The discharge process works in the opposite direction, the compressed air is beeing released to push the water thought a hydroelctric turbine to generate electricity on demand. The innovation is based on isothermal process, which is more efficient than traditional CAES technologies. In addition a hydro-turbine is more efficient than an any other air-turbine.
